Door lock actuator

Hi everybody. Thanks for letting me join fordrangersforum. I need help. I'm installing a viper 3305v keyless entry truck alarm on my 1999 ford ranger. My ranger has no power locks or power windows from factory. I need help I want to have keyless entry. So I found door lock acturators from a 2001 ford ranger xlt a installed it on my 99 ranger. Can I just connect my viper direct to the actuators, I don't need the lock switches. Just want keyless entry. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

Yes, but theres more involved than just connecting the viper system to the actautors. Theres a couple different kinds of actuators, 2 wire or 3 wire. I had 2 wire actuators from a GM and put them in my 93. Basically from the viper control box, it goes into a group of relays to switch polarities for lock/unlock. Then the relays have an output. For 2 wire actuators its 4 relays total. That gives output for one actuator, but Im running both on one output with no issues. I couldnt tell you how to wire the relays as my dad sat down and figured that out, but it looks hard. Im sure theres a wiring diagram on google

Re: Door lock actuator

Just so you're aware, those actuators do get weak over time. My 2000 has power locks, but the actuators aren't powerful enough to unlock the doors so I still have to use my key.

Aftermarket actuators are much cheaper and easier to replace

I'm gonna install aftermarket actuators in my truck. I don't have anything power and gonna put in aftermarket actuators when I get my compustar alarm, I have a viper and it's garbage I hate it. I'm not gonna have any switches for the doors just hook them to the alarm. And they are cheap if they die I'll buy another set.
