If your camera has RAW+JPEG then use that setting so you'll have your JPEG to fall back to. It may take a little longer to write the files to your cameras memory card though.

What processing software are you using?

Raw
RAW+JPEG
JPEG

So if I shoot in Raw+JPEG it makes 2 files?

I am using that PICASA that Dave showed me.

Yes there will be two files saved on your camera's memory card. One will be a JPEG and the other RAW file will have an different file extension depending on your camera make. Mine creates .NEF for the Nikon RAW files.

Cool! Picasa supports RAW files! It didn't back when I used it.

Yea, if you are taking photos you intend to keep then shoot JPEG + RAW. This way if you have any problems adjusting RAW to your liking you have your JPEG to fall back on. If you are just experimenting then just use the RAW setting to try your hand at RAW processing.

I was trying to lighten up the front shadow areas of your truck without removing much of the nice pink from the sky. It did lighten up the pink a little though.

Use that google picasa and just adjust the settings. You just gotta play around with it some.
