The first is far better. Are you shooting RAW?

Upping the black point (which it looks like you did) is not a solution to overexposed shots and when to high like this it can ruin them. Graying the sky out from overly using highlight recovery is also not pleasing. Remember not to overdue anything and you'll be good to go

I'm still learning the edit game myself. I like the barn of the first pic b/c of the detail but I like the detail of the grass in 2. I wonder if there is a way to selective edit the exposure could it be done with one of the expensive edit programs (ie. photoshop).
Sorry! not trying to thread-jack.

Number one is way over exposed. As Mike would say they both need sharpening. Number two is it just me or I think it looks a bit fuzzy. I'm not saying by any means that these photos are crap whatsoever but I'm just letting you know what I think is wrong with them. Also #2 could be a bit more darker especially in the grass.

If you are shooting in RAW (ARW) then you should be able to adjust the exposure. If you are shooting in JPG then you're limited to the range of adjustments you can perform including exposure.

It seems that your camera's exposure meter metered inside the building but your camera is adding a +1.3 adjustment to the exposure that your camera's exposure metered for a normal exposure.

Locate your +/- exposure adjustments in your camera and zero them out.

You did pretty good editing in photo 2.

I hope this makes sense. If not give us another holler.

It would honestly be pretty pointless unless we have the RAW file. Shoot RAW if you want full flexibility with your images, jpeg if you dont care and want your images quick with little/no effort.

Thanks! I did go off track somewhat. Plus he and I had discussed overexposure before. I edited my post.

There's not a whole lot we could do with this image but I have to give you a high five for the editing you did in photo 2 which is an improvement.

Have you considered converting to B&W and adjusting on that?

I don't know if you got the +1.3 exposure adjustment on your camera back to zero from our prior discussion or not but the info is found on page 88 of your camera manual.

What software are you using to edit your photos?

I have been playing around with the camera a lot from are past discussion.

I found this place to edit photos it is pretty much just like photoshop.

Actually you bring up a good point tensilver.

Overexposed images make great B&W candidates

Yep! After converting to b&w play around with the sliders for brightness and contrast plus any other to see what the effect is.

Now I understand! You currently can't process RAW images with the current software you're using. Did you get any cd's with your camera? If so then you may possibly have better processing software than what you're using.

If so, see if you have the following software:
PMB (Picture Motion Browser)
Image Data Converter SR
Image Data Lightbox SR

Here's a small video on processing a Sony raw image using the supplied software.

Of course that is if you are ready to give shooting in raw a try.
