Default The macro setup.....

is almost completely in order again

This is my stacking setup by the way, and is only used with dead insects. Live insects = handheld

unfortunately I don't have any. I purchased the bellows (the accordian looking thing) but its m42 mount so i needed an adapter to make it work. In total I ended up waiting nearly two months for the fricken piece to arrive (apparently got lost in the mail so they sent me another). Well it arrived a couple days ago and its the wrong adapter. Luckily im pretty good with DIY stuff so using a friends old teleconverter we made an adapter Shots from my old setup (where I only used extension tubes, and the lighting/diffusion was a bit different) can be found here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/tanneryates/sets/72157626650549520/
ignore the truck shot (it is a focus stack of two images, just not a macro) and the test shots. Each image from beginning to end takes roughly 5-8 hours to complete.

Not counting the camera and flashes since they are universal....

Pentax Bellows II (a very specific version was needed) - $70

Extension tubes (only ones in the picture under my diffusion tent. I have multiple) - ~$25

Newport 420 linear stage w/ 1" micrometer - $60

El nikkor 50mm F/2.8N - $20

PTTL cord - $25

Various adapters (theres about 5 being used) - $15

tripod - $free$

everything else I had lying around.

keep in mind pretty much everything I got was a good deal. For example good luck getting a like new el nikkor 50mm F/2.8N in new condition for $20, or a newport linear stage with micrometer for $60!

Wow! I gave a lot more than that for the bellows that went on my old Maymia 645.
Nice setup by the way!

Yeah I can imagine. Thanks.

Here's a promised test picture. The lighting setup is slightly different than what is shown in the picture (made some last minute modifications) but overall everything's the same. To read a more elaborate description click on my flickr link in my signature.
