i absolutely hate when people go way overboard with HDR's and make them look cartoony and gay. thats not what its sposed to be.

Damnit, my phone makes everything blurry as shit! They're taken with a good camera but my iPhone frf app rapes the quality.

Now i'm not going to criticize the "overboard" photos that have the cartoony look. I do have a few of them as well, it really depends on the photo though. I have a photo under a bridge of some graffiti on the supports, and a little bit of "overboard" really made the graffiti pop, and gave it an almost surreal look.
Each photographer is entitled to his or her own point of view as to what their art should look like, and what may look like a generic snapshot to you, could look like the work of Ansel Adams to someone else.
I believe the line is, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and the same goes for artwork. Sure, overprocessed HDR takes the image out of the realm of photography to a point, but it's an art-form all it's own, with dedication and hard work put into it.

Also, I definitely appreciate the compliments sir, I always enjoy hearing nice things about my photos. Granted, I'm more of a stickler for constructive criticism, and find it far more valuable than a kudos or two...

Here's one I took while visiting Warrensburg, MO (home of the UCM Mules, and not much else, i'm afraid...)

(and yes, I'm aware that my lens was dirty... will be re-taking these when I have a spare 8 hours to drive there and back lol!)

and a slightly cartoon-esque one slightly down the tracks a bit... heard the whistle a-blowin so I had to high-tail it outta there quite quickly!

took these a few days ago. ignore the ghosting, didnt have a tripod.
these are 5 exposure sets.

looking at them on my laptop they look overdone, which i hate. but they looked good on my mac (hooked to TV so color and black/white isnt calibrated the best. but ill post them anyways.

Took these the other day. Both are 5 exposure shots, done handheld. Processed them in Photomatix.

Not bad!
Tad but to much luminosity on the last one IMO. But I guess that's a personal preference thing.

Thanks man. Yeah, once I finished it, I realised I should have added a little more gamma to it. I still have all the original shots yet, so I could give it a try again someday.

90% of the time I do my HDR's after I finalize and save it, it comes out a tad different than the preview. I've learnt to go just a tad beyond what looks perfect, and when it saves it will be good.
