Always shoot in RAW mode so you can develop your self (You cant develop a JPEG) .

Learn your facts before making statements like the above
Pentax DSLR's can mount ANY lens ever created by/for pentax. No other brand can say that completely. Canon, not even close (I feel bad for you old FD shooters!) INCLUDING screw mount lenses. Thats something like 60+ years worth of lenses to choose from.

+1.
Pentax dosen't have a lot of new lens designs (although their few recent ones are really nice), but ANYTHING made for pentax since the 1960's M42 screw mount (including the 30 different variants of the K-mount) will work on a Pentax K-mount digital body. The new K-5 body is just awesome.
Almost the same with Sony. Anything Minolta made since 1985 will work (a good chunk of my kit is original Minolta AF), as well as a sh*tload of M42 screwmounts from all over.
----------
@ the OP - nice choice. the new Rebels are feature-packed at a good price. HD video and great IQ.
Bit of a bummer for lenses, as if you want anything other than kit lenses or stabilization, be ready to get your ca$h out !
As for the few who asked the difference between a 600$ body and a 3000$ body, it's mostly controls. Image quality a LITTLE BIT, but nowadays the cheaper bodies have spectacular IQ.
The difference between my 400$ Alpha 200 and 2000$ Alpha 700 is all about external controls. Instead of digging through menus to change X Y or Z setting, there's a switch or button at a finger's reach. Really useful to make quick changes

I wish I could afford the Pentax K-5! What a sensor in that beast!
If I ever run into a cheap sony DSLR im going to buy it, just to try out my minolta maxxum glass I absolutely loved the beer can 70-210 and 50mm F/1.7 on film
Oh and isn't your A700 a full frame camera Quite a big difference from your A200!

Your link works fine by clicking the link FILM!!!! - a set on Flickr above.
Nice photos! I shot and processed lots of B&W back in the day. I mostly used Kodak's Plus X and Tri X films. Then got into color by shooting Kodak's Kodacolor and Ectachrome films. I switched over to Fujifilm when Fuji came out with their more vivid color films.
