I would sugg. getting the lenses, for the shot I would use a polarized lense, and possibly a UV lense, make sure that it sets the focus on the flower not the leaves.

Not sure I follow...
Samsung is a good name, I trust their products, hell I bought one of their groundbreaking laptops 6 years ago and it never let me down. That being said people who buy Samsung camera's do not typically post "rate my pic" threads. It will do the job but it is limited to the settings that it has factory installed and it'll be difficult o get anything more than a point and shoot pic. There are some great lines out there for amatuer stalkers. Sony should be good they bought out my old Camera choice Konica Minolta, but MS's are still costly vs. everything. Canon, Nikon, I would suggest checking out the powershot series from Canon, I think they are G's, just don't get the elf. They are good, I have 1 but it is still limited. HTH

Since you're asking, I'll say a few things...

First, and most noticeably, the highlights are blown out from overexposure. Lower exposure compensation, or faster shutter speed, or smaller aperture (higher number), or lower ISO would have helped you there.
Also, I don't know what you know of the "rule of thirds" but having you subject directly in the center of the frame doesn't usually work too well. I think taking the shot from a slightlly higher angle, looking down on the flower, would have made it look a little better. Also, that background, while nicely blurred, is still way too distracting.
Yes, I'm a photographer. Just my opinion....

I'm glad you didn't take it the wrong way. I actually meant to go back and edit my post, but I forgot. I wasn't going to delete anything I said, just add to it. I didn't want to sound too critical.
The main thing is the exposure. Do you have any photo editing software? Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro or any other software can really help tweak (it won't work miracles) an exposure that didn't come out great, but the exposure can't be too far off when you take the picture. I tried to bring back some of the detail in the highlights of your shot, and it helped a little, but in this particular shot the it's just way too overexposed to be saved. If the exposure was better, the pic could be spruced up quite a bit simply by cropping. Those two white spots in the lower right, the piece of leaf in the lower left, and some of the black lines in the background could be eliminated by trimming the image down a bit. Cropping is your friend. I'm not a pro, but even pros often crop out unwanted parts of an image, because it's often hard to frame a subject exactly how you want it to look in-camera. But ideally you want to try to frame it as best you can before you even press the shutter, because cropping is throwing away precious pixels. The nice thing about shooting things like flowers though is that it's not going anywhere. It's not like it's a once in a lifetime opportunity. You can always go back and reshoot it any way and any time you want, from different angles, different exposures, and different lighting conditions.
You said your camera is really old, so I'm going to guess that it doesn't have a built in histogram, but histograms are your friend, as well. A histogram is a visual graph that will show you how accurate your exposure is.
Overall it's not a bad shot, and with a few small changes it could have been a winner. If you're serious about it, just keep shooting and you'll get the hang of it in no time. The key is to study the shots you take that work well, and then break down the reasons why they work well, and then apply what what you learn in the future.
Sorry for the long post, I'm just really into this stuff....

You don't have to choose between one or the other. I do both!
