Arrow Someone set me straight...

Hey guys,

Having a baby this summer and would like to get a "real" camera.

I spent some time on CNET and have read reviews out the wazoo but I don't know what the hell to get.

I need to keep the price to $500 or less. There are quite a few like this...but I don't know what direction to go. Sony, Panasonic, Canon...?!

I would like to able to record HD video and be able to change lenses in the future.

Help if you can. Thanks ahead of time.

if you are not wanting a point and shoot camera then I would recommend the Canon Rebel (T2I) I think it might be a little out of the price range though. you might be able to find a used one for around $500. it has the capability to change lenses, attached flash and remote trigger (when you want to be in the shot) and it takes (short) video. Nikon has a similar set up not sure of the Camera model though (I’m a Canon guy) the power shot G12, power shot sx30 or even the power shot SX130 is are good all around cameras but they do not have the inter changeable lens. They would do you well and with the zoom capability you would not need a lot to carry around. Just the camera!

I don't mind buying used but somewhat leaning towards new. I don't have to have video capabilities but it would be a bonus.

I will look at the ones suggested so far. thanks.

if its just for family, friends, and bs'n i'd do something small like the sony cyber shot or the nikon coolpix. but if you are looking to make pro-togorapher type shots run DSLR like the canon rebel t2i or a nikon d40
