Default Just bought a lens hood

I am seeking advise the proper way to position it.

I have yet to get any pictures with it on and off to determine if it will help.

They are used to prevent lens flare. When dirrect sunlight hits your lens, it causes lens flare.

Mine seems to work best with the wide parts of the hood on the top & bottom. Once in a while if the sun is at a harsh angle I will use my hand to help shade the lens.
