Ok thanks, I couldn't find anything in the rules, but some of the forums I have been on are weird about logos if you are not a vendor. With that said here's a few, lol:

here are the pics I wanted to post up, I think these are the best ones I have taken to date, but I think a lot of that has to with the lighting outside:

...and, I think, the available lighting was ideal for the situation, but you were lacking a bit in knowledge/techique to take advantage of it.

There are a couple of ways to correct this, and the easiest/cheapest does not involve purchasing a new camera -- you just need a reflector or two and/or a soft fill-flash to throw some light into the lower front (valence area) of the car to bring that detail out.

Some of the more expensive cameras have auto modes that will do these things for you, and/or manual modes that let you tweak things a bit... and with those, you can get by without necessarily needing any reflectors or fill-flash.

Great photographs have more to do with the photographer than with the equipment. I think you'd be better served spending your "up to $400" budget on a photography course than on another camera. IMHO.

That is a valid point, but I need a new camera anyways only because this one I am using has been dropped enough times that it is having issues (flash won't work sometimes, it doesn't zoom in anymore....). It might be the way to go for me right now, I just need to find out some info about classes in my areas. Thanks

I'd definitely see what you can get for $400 in a Nikon DLSR. you can find a few different models in this price range and a great place to look is ebay. there are tons of NIB Nikons on there. They really are not all that hard to use. especially to a novice photographer, there are a lot of settings and things you will never end up messing with.

...and B&H Photo/Video is a reputable dealer. I've done business with them in the past.

You might take a look at the Canon Rebel XTi. It's a couple years old now but it is an awesome entry level digital at 8mp. Should be able to pick one up with a couple basic lenses in the $400 range. Anything that I have put up has been shot with the XTi.
