What I really like about DSLR is the speed. I'm a busy guy, don't have time to go around waiting for my camera to tak a picture. I got my D5000 for $520 shipped.

Good call on the MP crap. It's a sales gimick for sure.

Also, for $400 the Sony HX-1 is freaking amazing! Watch some youtube vids on it. I was torn between that and the Nikon D5000. I ended up with the D5000 because of a few things, but that HX-1 is cool. The sweeping panaramic feature is golden. And the 1080 video with zoom is a nice touch as well. It's got professional-type features but the ease-of-use of a cyber-shot. It's a point and shoot by the way, not a DSLR. I may buy one as a 2nd camera now.
