Ran like crap is what I'm guessing and yes it did run with the piston flopping around inside, the arm broke free and fucked some shit up! I opened up the engine and saw that, then I knew why the engine was giving to the school.

What's sad is you know that happened because of some kind of abuse. Pistons don't just self-destruct without some user intervention. Wanna bet the oil temp was climbing for a good 20 minutes and he/she never noticed until it started to shake rattle and roll?

Alright here is your WTF! Aviation up date. I got another good once here for you.

Students rebuilt this engine and where running it in a test cell when they started having issues with it and shut it down and parked it way back in one of the hangers on the left. Well it's been there for about 5 years now since they dicked around with it and now the school is having students drag this shit out and fix it or throw it out to free up space. (we have to much shit, I mean fuck we got a 737 that we just move around and 3 spare engines for it along with prob 15 spare APU's for it.) So I got ****y after playing doctor with the last engine they gave me to rebuild and jump on this one like a fat kid to cake.

Look what I found (more like pulled out)!
(I love going to school that gets loads of free shit from RedBull)

(I think its still good)

(Oh yeah we can reuse that)

What I think is scary is the students who did this now have there A&P's and are out working on aircraft.

After pulling it all apart and starting to rebuilt it we found a plastic piece blocking one of the main oil passage ways. After about a day of trying to figure out what the plastic was or came from it hit us. It the plastic lock ring from a oil jug. The plastic ring left behind from removing the cab.

Two holes in the top of the piston. Things that make you go "how the f&ck did someone manage this one?" I'm guessing the pistons were impacting the spark plugs, which once again begs the questions HOW???

The piston heads are really pitted and wrecked too. Were they running LOP at full power with no cooling like 2 weeks straight?
