Nope, It's a 2 stroke. Yeah, 4 strokes can be fast, but if the motor goes your money will be gone even faster!

We have a KTM 150 (same as the 144) and it is an insanely fun bike. More HP than all of the 250f's iirc, you just can't be a lazy 4 stroke rider and expect to go fast on one lol.

I know the one I rode let go and he had to rebuild it and he had to get another job to fix it lol

They are really fun, can be hard to ride in the woods though. The courses I race on are often really tight and technical, and the 144 does NOT have much low end grunt lol. Ever ridden a 200 XC-W? Those things are amazing. Like a 150 when you rev it out, like a 250 when lugging it.

I rode a 200 xcw a few years ago before I got the 150 and it seemed like a nice bike, but the guy had it jetted weird so that it was super torquey but didn't want to rev out. Coming off an 85 at the time, I wanted more of the 125 feel so I opted for the 150.

I ride a 300 xcw now and its also a great bike. Torque for days for a 2 stroke!

Before I had my YZ450F, and now my Trials bike, I had a KTM 300 MXC ('99 vintage). It was probably the best bike I ever owned, and definitely one of the best "Do-Anything" types of bikes I've ever owned. I rode moto with it, hare scrambles, enduros, and attempted some Trials type of stuff with it. That bike simply took the beating, and kept on going. Should've had my head examined when I bought the 450F......

Here's a pic of one of the Hare Scrambles I rode on the 300, The Hangover Scrambles on New Year's Day, 2009, at Washougal National MX Park. I'm the guy in the white/red jersey bent over the bike in the middle of the pic:

The smaller KTMs you guys are talkin' about are very, very good bikes also. A ton of fun from something that barely weighs, what, 200 lbs.?

Jimmie
