Exclamation 3.0L to a 2.5L Swap - Looking for answers!

Well today my old 3.0L v6 gave up on me, 230k miles, engine seized up, blew oil and coolant all over the gas station.. And I dont have much, if any, money to rebuild it, or get a new motor..

So I was thinking, I have a 2.5L Inline 4 from my old CJ5, as well as a 4 speed standard transmission for it, both in great condition, sitting in the back yard. I dont think anyone has done a swap concerning this type of motor.

My question is, anyone out there know how difficult it'd be? I have an entire CJ5 at my disposal, so engine mounts and all the goodies are available. Just want to know what im getting if to, if I want to go down this path.

Me and my father both have alot of mechanical know-how, Ive just never swapped a motor for a different one before.

Any comment or help is appreciated!

And thanks for moving the thread, was not sure where it belonged!

The 2.5L is a 1986 and is Carbureted, so only electronics it has is wiring for gauges and ignition. And "pooter" as in computer? or Exhaust? thats a new term for me :P

Thanks for the feedback!

Just drive the Jeep. That would be easier than swapping motors

I brung that up to my mother today while watching oil run. I honestly would if it didnt shimmy over 45, and if it had a gas tank. And brake lights. And brakes... its a mud toy. :P

thanks for the input!
