Much cheaper if you do it yourself.. I have been quoted $250 parts and labor from numerous shops.

Oil, plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter, sea foam, grease all fittings, coilpack maybe, would be a good start. Past that its very possible that that's where your truck loses steam, especially if you're geared high. (4.11) Before my larger tires it had a hard time reaching low 70s. Now I can get there without too much trouble.

Well i have done all of the above except for fuel filter, greasing all fittings and sea foam. I planned on doing the fuel filter tomorrow anyhow...maybe ill grab a can of seafoam while im at napa or advance

My 4.0 with 4:10s would do this. The governer tops out @90-95 if i remember correctly. It would sit around 3k rpms going in the 70-75 range. And I do agree with matty everyone should calm down a bit, its his life let him do what he wants... what are we in 8th grade?

Do you have stock tires or larger? Your speedometer might be reading lower than you're traveling I know mine reads about 10 to 15 mph slower past 50 due to my 31s if you have a smartphone usea GPS speedometer to verify it's correct or at least close.

and killj0y, I have the stock tire size, but I'm still going to try the GPS thing on my smartphone, just to see if my speedometer is correct.

I am going to get a fuel filter now...hopefully that helps...although I feel like I would make my truck struggle at ALL speeds, not just the 75+ range.

I'm not sure if your truck has a tank mounted pump or not. If it does, than yeah, it's a PITA. When I did my Silverado I took the bed off, and with all the bolts being 12 years old and rusted I had several that broke the nuts inside the bed. Cutting those suckers off was the hardest part. Once you get the bed off, it only takes a few minutes to replace the actual pump.

I'd start with a fuel filter. If you've never changed it, there's a good chance it's clogged.

And don't worry about all the speed Nazi's. I drive about 79 here, and the speed limit is 75. I even go by my GPS, so my speedometer actually reads 83. If you're going by your speedometer, chances are you're actually pretty close to the speed limit anyway. Speedometers are typically calibrated high. I guess people forget about that.

Not necesarily, the flow could be restricted but the system could compensate up to a point, and past that it just can't get the pressure to move the volume of fuel it needs to keep accelerating.
