I'm literally wanting to do the same thing I'm my 93 ranger, I was told on here the engine would drop in and bolt up to my tranny, that was with a 01 3.8 v6 mustang engine, it is obdII though so it might be hard to wire everything up to be turn key, for the radiator you would just need different hoses and then redo the exhaust, I haven't started in my project yet but let me know how it goes

Not sure about all that yet, but for the radiator you'll have to get some flex hose or try to find one that will work with it

Thanks so much man. Itll be a minute before i actualy get down to his project. My stepdad hasnt even gotten his engine yet. I was thinkig about building up this engine before even dropping it in. I dont wanna be tradtional mustang and juat drop a 5.0 i wanna build a bog v6 thatll keep up with any 5.0 out there. And i figured i could do that. Or atleast just build up to what ican. and just have fun with it. I was thinking of taking the whole rear end out the mustang and swappin iy to? Is that possible or will it not bolt up properly?

3.8L FRONT WHEEL drive is Vulcan pattern like the 3.0L (Taurus).

It isn't going to bolt up.

That rear end isn't going to bolt up.

you can drop it in as far as knowing what to do not sure i no you can drop a Taurus engine in a ranger all you have to do is get a different oil pan and air box, ive done that before but that about it

if he's doing a 5.0 swap, just take all the 3.8 wiring and the transmission. why bother keeping the one that was in your truck if you can have the trans from the stang.

whichever one is easiest to do ill do. if a taurus v6 is easier with just a pan and airbox change i can do that. i can get my hands on a sho motor quite easy nad swap it to my ranger? which is easier. and less costly?

Your questions are impossible to answer without perfect foresight.

Up to you to do the research and pick what will work best for what you'll use the truck for. It's like asking what parts will you need, how hard, and how much it will cost to drop in a caddy 500ci, who knows, it all depends.

i just wanna put in a bigger engine with the least amount of work. and as little money as possible. this 3.0 v6 is not fast enough. and doesnt pull enough.
its just boring as of now haha

honestly, if you get the motor and trans for free from your dad's stang, that will be cheaper. ideally, try and get the stang right next to your truck so that you can swap things over one by one. motor, trans, all wiring, all smog stuff, intake, etc will need to be swapped. exhaust may be a problem, i'm not sure if there is enough clearance for the headers. you also might need a new drive shaft made. you'll also need to make new motor mounts to the frame and transmission mounts.

Hi to all; I have been reading about motor swaps mustang will fit wont fit easily. I have a 93 extended cab 2wd with a bad trans(A4LD) and nobody rebuilds them in east texas. no rangers in any salvage yards within 100 miles, and did find one near fortworth, that wanted $1,500 plus shipping. Only paid $500,00 to buy it 10 years and 2 transmissions ago. I am on social security, so money is tight, but would cocider a V6 swap to get a better tranny. thanks to all ; mikeh
