posting for a friend intrested in buying this truck but will a 1998 4.0 fit in an 02 with a 4.0 thats blown up although they are different gen rangers will the swap go with out to much hassle?

Not really the 98 was still a 4.0l OHV and the 2002 is an SOHC. It would be a step backwards to put a 98 motor in an 02 and because of the differences between the two engines it wouldn't be a simple swap.
