Default Diesel on the way!!!!!!!!!!

so i have been looking around and thinking a lot lately about up grading my engine. well its time i found a Cummings in grate shape at the junk yard and a guy that will help me with the transformation. i am only paying for parts and the engine. so far i am at 750 just for the engine that i can pick up next week..... the only thing i have standing in my way is that i am down only too my ranger at this time and need to get my bothers truck for about 2 weeks. as soon as the work starts i will be posting some pics. in the mean time i want some input. i know there was a thread about putting stacks on a ranger and a vid of a diesel ranger on here put the thread was involving the stock engine so any thoughts on doing it for the diesel would be great

That's a good deal on that engine man. I stopped by a local CAT dealer today to check on the price for a 3 cylinder diesel and the price tag knocked me out kold, $8,000 bucks for a long block assembly! Jesus Christ, that's way too high for me. That was for a brand spanking new 3 cylinder diesel long block. Don't ask what a brand new fully assembled version would cost. That was even worse. I knew that diesel engines were expensive, but that's too much.

Just to confirm...you are doing the 4bt 3.9L swap not trying to put the 6bt 5.9L in your truck am I right?

Stacks - my opinion - look retarded. But if you really want to do them, you are going to need to make sure you heat the exhaust or just make sure to route it away from fuel lines and places that may catch fire.

Electrical is going to be a PITA! But take your time and you'll have it down in no time.

I definately suggest reading the link someone already posted. You will learn a lot right there alone.

Good luck...I will be watching this thread lol

Diesel rangers have always caught my eye as late. I wanted to do a 3 cylinder diesel in a 1923 T-bucket using some ford ranger parts, but the cost of a brand new engine is off the page. So I'll also be paying attention to this thread myself. Good luck my friend, we're all looking forward to the end results.

To wire gauges, the fuel solenoid shut off (if equipped) lift pump (if equipped) transmission computer for shifting if needed...etc

awesome man!! on stacks our 3500 ram has them and it looks great IMHO if done right. id do just one on the passenger side ending just a little bit above the cab with a slash cut. that would help from keeping the soot get on ur ranger.

Have you ever done a conversion to a non stock conversion? The gauges are the big bitch, and to get it automated to where everything works like its stock. It's not that fun. Trust me lol Not impossible, just a pain.

yes and the ranger gauges honestly don't look that hard nor does anyone have issues with that part. im also an electrician so its not really hard to apply it from work lol

Because they are mostly doing Ford swaps, and Ford keeps most of their stuff the same lol I've done a couple of the conversions, not on Rangers, so I could be wrong, but on other cars I've done it on it can be rather cumbersome. That's all I am saying. Plus I hate wiring, so I spend stupid amounts of time on it.
