Lol you make 500 HP on that, I wouldn't be amazed, I think the engine could be talked into that. As long as you do your homework.

Re: Best way to get 400-500 horsepower/tq in a ranger?
the best way is.. dolla bills...
you could maybe do it with tons of custom machining and tuning, all forged internals, huge fuel delivery, a turbo with big boost, high octane if not race gas. problem is the tranny will literally explode and the engine wont be reliable. itd cost you easily over 20k to do that.
best bet is a 302. ive seen one meticuosly built (stroked out actually) and it did 400/400 NA. a super charger can push that.
anythings possible, just depends how much money you got to spend. if you want that much power, whyd you buy a ranger? even if you achieve it, itll be useless. For the money you bought a ranger and it would take to build it, you could buy a mustang and twin turbo it and make nearly a 1000 hp

Ha. Intense man. That powerstroke.
Yeah. I'm probably gunna take the 302-347 route later down the road, after i finish the fiero. No such thing as useless power. Just impractical power. :P hah. Thank you again, all.

I would call it useless if you cant put it too the ground. Check out some ridiculous hayabusa powered shifter carts. These little go carts cant even go a straight line.. wasted money

Buy a truck made for 500hp. It will be cheaper.

Re: Best way to get 400-500 horsepower/tq in a ranger?
Some short of boost is the way to build torgue Id with a 4.0 supercharged 300hp-400trq wouldn't be hard to hit with something like megasquirt for tuning or another brand of stand alone software. There a new guy who just joined here from about 1.5hrs north of where I live (His intro thread title is customizing) who's supercharging his truck says he's rode in a ranger that's 4.0sc and traps 148mph in the 1/4m that's some serious power my new motor I'm installing next week should be around 220hp 250trq if I'm lucky but I'm 2.3turbo with a stock turbocoupe ecu
