i know you have to take a sledge hammer to the firewall to fit a 460 and a 5.4 is even bigger external dimension wise

I'd say a sledge hammer wouldn't be enough. A plasma cutter and alot of welding would be in order at that point.

im definitely not putting a 460 into my ranger. i was looking at 429s and 460s for my 69 mustang i hope to eventually have going. just thought it would be fun to see if any one had put one in a ranger

yep that is unique and different. There have been a few people that have done it, but I think it's too much for the ranger to handle.

Here's the guy I know (he's rebuilding my 466 for my 79 4x4). This is his 2000 Ford Ranger dragster truck (COMPLETE BUILD AND RUNNING/DRAG) with the 460 in it. He has some vids of it on the track.

I might just do a Mustang 4.6L swap and stay with a manual but thats only when the 4L goes on it. I am in no rush to turn my DD into a gas hog.

a 4.6l in a crown vic gets 18-19mpg with an auto so you should be able to do that with a manual if you can keep your foot out of it

pfffft, why would i get the 4.6 of a crown vic (probably detuned) when I could get one with the Mustang and its already fitted with the Manual. Unless! i get the same 4.6L out the Crown Vic Pursuit packages
