Default this is a pain

idle problem. My 4.0 will increase idle at any time ,before warm up or after. It dose it just long enough to notice it. It has been going for 2 weeks now. No codes yet.

Go ahead and list the things you've already considered.
For now it just seems like either a vacuum leak or a sticking PCV valve which is effectively the same thing.
Spark plugs and wires could be due for a change.
More idea's will come. But for now it's hard to judge how involved those suggestions should be.

Is it when your heater is on cause the A/C clutch kicks on and off so that could be it. Listen for a click about every 15 seconds.

Is it a constant problem when running without the heat or A/C on or only when the heat or A/C is on? I have a 4.0 that does that at idle when the heat or A/C is on, that is normal.

Thanks! I have had my Ranger since bran new and never noticed it do that before. But I figured it would not hurt to see if it was the a/c kicking in and out. That was it!!I did not think it could be that easy.
