I just purchased an 03 Ranger Edge and it's got a ton of miles on it. I figure I'll need to rebuild or replace the motor in about a year. The 3.0 OHV it has seems a bit gutless and I'd like to upgrade. I know having an OBD-2 computer makes that tricky as they scan it when doing the state inspection. Can a 4.0 SOHC be installed with the right wiring and having the ECU altered? Maybe buying a 4.0 SOHC ECU from FORD and have them flash it to match my VIN?
