Its such a good motor with great low end torque, has anyone ever try to put one in a ranger?

Yeah I doubt that a 300 6 will fit in a Ranger engine bay.

Nope, it won't work without alot of modifications. The 300 in my F100 measures roughly 32" in length, not including the fan pulley. My Ranger engine bay measures roughly 33" from the firewall to the edge of the radiator support. Even with electric fans mounted in the bed, I don't see it happening. I didn't measure the height of the 300, but I highly doubt a full dressed EFI 300 will fit in the Ranger without hood modifications. And then you'd have to make your own motor mounts.

It's just way too much work.

It's been done before, but like what was stated, lots of cutting. Think who ever did it cut into the firewall and all sorts of fun. Nothing is impossible, but not going to be at all even close to being a bolt in. The length is one thing that sucks. My v8 swap had worlds of room on the sides, but length wise is where you're trying to get as much space as possible for radiator and cooling.

somebody got a 5.9 cummins to fit in their ranger, but they needed to stretch out their front end, plus a whole lot of other custom work to get it to fit. Its possible tho

300-6 is a gas HOG, I had a '91 F150 shortbed 4x4 in high school.... rather just have EFI 5.0 in a ranger

I don't know Terry, I put a gallon in the F100 8 months ago, and it's still got that same gallon in it.

Then again, it doesn't run.

I would think the jeep 4.0 would be a better fit. My xj that I had didn't seem that long.

Try a 351M/400 if you just want torque.. or even a 360/390 those would probably be easier to get in then a 300

Thats what I was thinking. Im gunna be dropping a new motor in mine once I get another truck to drive while I am doing the swap. Im thinking Im just gunna go 302 with a T-5 behind it.

if you want the easiest thing to do then a 302 with an AOD from explorer would be easiest..your gonna have to find a mustang ECM for the 302 T-5 combo if your going to go fuel injected
