Default will it work

I have a2004 ranger (wrecked) and thinking about buying a 97 ranger and was wanting to know if the engine and trans would work (from the2004) in the 97

Your going to have to use the harness and ECM from the newer motor, also the you have to deal with PATS (I believe cant remember which yr didnt have it) also a new fuel system setup.

it's gonna be difficult. in 04, they changed the wiring and locations that the wiring comes through the floor/firewall. the fuse box was moved to the other side of the truck, etc. the best deal would be to get the entire truck, and put it side by side. you'll probably have to swap the steering column, entire wiring, and some other stuff as well.
