First off, I'm surprised that you're not exempt from emissions for this vehicle over 10 years old. Here in New York state anything over 10 years is exempt from emissions testing, and just required safety inspections. They just check to make sure that it has a catalytic converter if one is required. I can't tell you how many of those Cadillac converters I've cut open and scooped out the insides of and welded them back together for friends just so they could get more power out of older vehicles of theirs. Second I don't believe the size of the engine has anything to do with what emission standards you have to meet. It has to do with the size of the vehicle/weight and what emissions the engine actually puts out of the exhaust; it has to be within range specs. I believe there's some information on that so you can actually look t up to see what the emissions put out by the donar vehicle are and what's required by the vehicle that you have. I don't know what site would have that information, but I'm sure you can Google it and find it some place and just look up the numbers.
