Default antifreeze leaking????

3.0L Ranger with water pump replaced over the summer. Saturday we found the radiator was half empty and the reserve tank was totally empty. Checked hoses and pump but did not see or feel any leaks. Replaced the radiator cap and refilled everything which seemed to fix the problem even through the next day of driving it. Monday after running the defroster on his way to work my husband checked it and again it had leaked out from somewhere we cannot figure out. The only thing is there is some sort of plate or something towards the bottom of the truck when you look from the top and there is a puddle there and some that has blown on the stuff down there. Just cannot figure out what is going on with this darn truck.

try to follow from where the puddles on the plate are, and its possible that you couldnt see (if there were) a crack in the water pump. its one of those things that can be so much.. if your certain its not from your hoses, which would usually be pretty obvious.. look over and over your radiator. do you know if whoever replaced the water pump had flushed a system before? and properly refilled and burped the system while installing?. best of luck, your problem is there in front of you though somewhere

When he gets home today we will check everything again. The idiot pieces of garbage who replaced the pump were suppose to be professionals, it was our local DreadQuarters or TreadQuarters if you want to call them by their name. Then they proceeded to leave off nuts and bolts from parts and they blew antifreeze all over everything under the hood but denied everything saying they cleaned it all up..BS. They had to replace the nuts and bolts because clearly you could see they were missing, the entire fan shroud was missing them and moving around! The idiot still denied the antifreeze spillage and nobody would take responsibility other than the usual bring it back in if you have any issues, I would not trust those idiots with a tricycle let alone my truck!

try not to run it much until you can figure it out. not running it would be best, overheating problems can kill a motor very quick. check your intake manifold gasket on top of the motor get a flashlight in there and see if that is where its coming from. its going to be running down the front of the motor if that is the case

You may want to go get a pressure tester and it can show you the leak in short order.

My local Auto-Zone has them on the Loan-a-Tool Program.

I also recommend looking at the timing chain cover gasket for leaks, common on the 3.0 when they get older...my truck also developed a leak there and had to replace the gasket , I also replaced the cover because it had corroded/pitted on the gasket surface. May be worth taking a look there.
