Imo I'd go with a cyclone v6 since they push f150s and mustangs along pretty well and they come up for sell on ebay a lot for usually about 1800$.

I totally get giving dreamers a reality check when it comes to swaps that are outrageous. I get that. I even get listening to their wild justifications (because come on, we all do it about something), and then retorting them with sound logic. Yup- needs to be done.

But jesus christ guys, do we need to nail his nuts to a cross? Nothing wrong with dreaming! Yeah his goal will probably never happen, but how fun would life be if we didnt at least consider (and sometimes do) stupid shit from time to time?

I once saw a 440 hemi shoehorned into the front of a VW beetle. I could be wrong, but electronics aside, that had to be harder than what the OP was considering...
