Re: 1L 3 cylinder ecoboost swap in ranger
You will have to a custom adapter plate made for the transmission along with custom motor mounts and obtaining all of the wiring and computers.
----------
You will need to work on the flywheel too.

Are you 100% serious with this build? You will spend thousands of dollars on a swap that has never been done before (and I guarantee it never will)
A couple questions before we continue....
#1 - how old are you?
#2 - how much do you want to spend
"Least amount of money possible" - is not an answer.
#3 - do you have any prior experience with working on vehicles?
(Oil changes and air filters do not count)
#4 - Do you realize that your Ranger is outdated, unpopular and will lose head to head with a Prius?
#5 - Do you realize that you can buy 6 Rangers by the time you're done swapping your 3 Banger?

Re: 1L 3 cylinder ecoboost swap in ranger
A few boltons seems like more than enough experience to do a full on custom motor swap.

Suspension is child's play when it comes to a motor swap.
So is "engine parts"

Re: 1L 3 cylinder ecoboost swap in ranger
...replacing engine components and overboosting a VolksVagen Rabbit = qualified to begin the project. Go buy your new engine today, before some else beats yo to it and pull your current engine starting tomorrow, and please post lots of pics. Sounds like a really kool project bud, looking forward to hearing all about it.

Re: 1L 3 cylinder ecoboost swap in ranger
With the 1L 3 cylinder ecoboost, you won't be able to get anymore power out of that engine than there already is. Yeah you would save weight, but the rpm's will be screaming to make the truck move. I recommend getting a 2L ecoboost because you make 250hp factory alone and the performance field is very big with that engine. Plus it would be easier and cheaper to switch it to a rwd motor(I've seen it done in a foxbody Mustang). I think a 2L ecoboost crate motor costs around 8-9,000 bucks. With 250 hp, that engine won't be working very hard to push the truck, so you would probably get 30mpg or better. I have the 3.slow in my ranger and if I did an engine swap, I would probably go with the 2.0 ecoboost.
