oil pressure failure
Recently I had the clutch replaced on my '96 Ranger with a 3L engine. The mechanic suggested that he also replace the timing chain & oil pan (rusty). I also had him do an oil & filter change. Shortly there after (< 2000 miles). The engine siezed up while driving. The dipstick indicates sufficent oil present. It was as though there was a sudden drop in oil pressure. Has anyone heard of this happening? The mechanic claims that it was not his fault and has no idea what happened. I bought this truck new in Oct. 1995 and have changed the oil & filer every 3,000 miles. A new engine will cost about $3,000.00 installed. I hate to put that much into an old truck even though everything else is in good condition.
