Default diesel for my ranger

Hi, I'm new here, and I've been looking at some older posts trying to find info on swapping engines in my ranger. I have an '88 with 2.9, 5 speed, 2 wheel drive. It only has 123,000 miles, but I've had nothing but trouble with it 'bout since I've owned it. I seen a post on here before (I think) on V W turbo diesel direct fit swap. But it didn't say anything 'bout the tranny. Would it have to be changed also, or will it bolt to the V W engine? Any info would be greatly appretiated.

Welcome Mike, Glad you found us. Have fun and enjoy FRF. Cummings now has a create motor that is self supporting to make it run right out of the create. They also make adaptor plates for trannys. The motor is built for people like you to do a gas to diesel swap.I seen this on Power Nations 4X4 TV.You can go on line and watch their episode.

So Mike, it's been about 3 years since you first posted this discussion about you intending to do a diesel swap. I'm very curious have you ever done it yet? please give us an update if you're watching this thread.
