You might as well buy a full size at that point

I'd take the 2.7 in a ranger. Hell, even the 2.0 4cyl scoots. Mom has an escape with one and it'll plant you.

Go big or go home with the 3.5 or make a 4.0 ecoboost

But half the fun is building the truck how you like it, and the power to weight ratio would be better than a koenigsegg 1 lol

I know koenigsegg is developing a camless engine, its going to use a pneumatic valvetrain over camshafts

----------

Isn't a flat crank just a boxer engine?

There isn't much special about a 'flat crank' engine.

For comparison purposes:

There are difficulties as well as benefits from the design. All it means is the journals are all in one plane. Unless this engine is something different. I haven't heard of anything. There was a completely different form of internal combustion engine that I saw before. It was fairly complex and heavy. I'll see if I can dig it up when I am on my home computer.

The new mustang gt350 has a 5.2 flat crank engine in it

Seems pointless to me, but I think a pneumatic valvetrain would be cool one day, engines would be able to rev higher and would make more power and torque, and would get better mileage

Does it have a balance shaft in it? I really haven't heard much on engine design in it. Without a balance shaft of some kind it will vibrate, and without some cross over pipes in the exhaust it won't sound much like an American v8. Which would seem to be important to Ford...

I don't believe that there is a balance shaft in it. I read somewhere that ford had somehow overcome the intense NVH that comes with having a flap plane, and that they are the first to do it with a displacement over 5.0l I think? I can't exactly remember the details though.

Usually engines with flat plane cranks rev higher and have much more horsepower. Pneumatic would be cool, I've seen a video somewhere of a car with one, but it seems too prone to failure to me. The desmodromic system that Ducati uses would do better In the reliability category.
