Well I have be on the furom for some time reading everyone's posts trying to find what engine swap to do.
So it's time to ask everyone their ideas
I want to go with a in line 6 cylinder.
I have found four different engines so far.

Volvo b6304
Any suggestions or comments?

Re: Engine Swap
What year ranger and what are your uses of it? Are you gonna take it off road or slam it and drive on the street?

Re: Engine Swap
I'd find an 00 expo wlt and swap the 5.0. There's a old fox body with a 4g63 in it here from an evo. As for I6 the 2jz and rb have been done to rangers so there's some one to answer questions about how. What about getting a 4.0 v8 from a jag or lexus?

I've had many engines in my day and the power and smoothness of a in line is unmatched.

Re: Engine Swap
I've had a few inline 6 but I'm a v8 guy, the power and sound of both are intoxicating. How about the bmw i6

Great engine very hard to work with in the aftermarket. Wiring in tranny concerns.
The ford 6 is great because it's a ford in a ford. Con is parts availability everything has to be flown in form Australia. Hp is very high at between 250 na to 420 turbo.
Has rear sump option. Engines are very costly if buying a turbo.
Nissan rb25/26 ate also on that list, but slightly more common. But up in the great white north not so common at the local parts store. 275-320 hp. No rear sump option.
2jz is a great choice because in a domestic delivered car. (Supra and Lexus)
The problem I face is when you lift the hood it's just a 2jz and I don't think you are
Welcome in the ford or Toyota groups. Power is most definitely there being around 320hp. And it has a rear sump option.
But the strangest one is the volvo.
960 volvo all aluminum 6. 1992-1998.
I'm in the middle of researching it right now.

Re: Engine Swap
I had a ford 4.9 i6 in my f150. Have you looked into them?

Re: Engine Swap
That would look sick and those engines are fairly easy to find used.

And cheap.
The exhaust pattern is the same as bmw m50/52 engines, so turbo headers are cheap.

Ok I found a t-5 conversion for the volvo b6294t engine.
I found a twin turbo volvo engine for $650. Comes with both turbos and wiring.
It's rear sump and all aluminum.
It came out of a x 90, so it was transverse mounted but the bellhousing is the same.
The valve cover will have to be changed do to it having a engine mount attached to it.
it would be the only volvo powered ranger I have ever seen. Maybe for a good reason.

Re: Engine Swap
Volvos are pretty much tanks so I don't know why it hasn't been done.
