class A motorhome question
I know it's a long shot but maybe someone on here knows the answer.
What engine would be in a mid to late 1980's georgie boy encounter motor home? It's about 36', diesel with a tandem rear axle setup.
Reason I ask is at work there is one abandoned on property we are cleaning up, and I kinda want the drive line for a project truck. Can't see anything under the hood and I can't figure how to get the doghouse off.

Re: class A motorhome question
My guess would either be a 3208 cat or a Detroit diesel, the detroits were dogs though, couldn't hardly get out of their own way

Re: class A motorhome question
Are you sure it is a diesel, all of my searching and those I've seen at work are chevy 454.

No chance of it being a cummins?
I'm personally hoping for a cat engine. The Detroit may be ok, as the truck it would go into is about half the size of the motor home.

Yep, it's apparently an odd duck, all I've found on the net are either a 454 or 460 gas, even the tandem jobs. But this one is diesel

Re: class A motorhome question
Does this one have a small hood up front? If you can get it open you won't have hassle with pulling the dog house just to see what it has.

it's got 2 little hoods but all you can see behind them is the radiator & batteries, and the oil fill & dipstick. the entire engine is buried way back under the doghouse.
I may just take a saw up there and cut a hole in the top of the doghouse to look down into. the rest of the RV is trashed and full of garbage so no big loss if it gets chopped up.
