Larger the truck, larger the wheelbase, heavier the weight = better chance of getting stuck. That's why jeeps can go anywhere. They have like a 3 foot wheelbase and they weigh as much as a feather.

I have 4wd just do if I need it, I do not need it right now, but if I slide off the road or need to help with something. I have a Cherokee that was 4wd and now I will never look back.

Mpg ain't much different at all.

It's a truck.

Well, yours isn't since it's a 2wd.

Hahah yup. I'm back.

But or real. Reading all the "what mpg do you get" threads there isn't really a difference.

And who cares how it rides. Personally I like how mine rides on cranked torsions

I have both, 87 4 And 99 2. Same mpg. I've done no mods to either. I've fixe the 87 a lot but I also beat on her ALOT over the past 5 years. She don't get stuck. The 99 lost it on wet grass.

Mine rides smoother than any 2wd ranger I have ridden in, it may have slightly modified to be that way.

4x4 is limited in mpg's bc of the dragging front axle.
A truck? You drive a ranger. No more capable than my grandmoms escape. I have a 150 for "trucking"

Oh don't get me wrong, I've been extremely stuck. Just not in the ranger. I had an 04 single cab Silverado with meaty tires that just dug holes in the sand. I had two jeeps winched together to pull me out. Burried to the frame, 17 with a 5 speed in the sand not knowing what I was doing. It was interesting haha. But the ranger is much lighter and floats better. I've tried hard to get it stuck haha

Uhm. It doesn't get any worse mpg. That live front axle makes no noticeable difference at all. The added weight of the front driveline will make more of a difference, but even still. I'm pulling 19 mpg average and I'm on 32's.

As for an escape bring just as capable, no.
I have a 6' bed. It's a truck.
