You can't park here.
I've been to a few places locally where I wasn't allowed to park my truck (housing developments, gated communities, condos) but the other night I got really annoyed. The guard was cool about it, and a nice guy. I wasn't angry or forceful with my comments to him. I just tried to lightly make fun of the situation to burn off some annoyance.
I started backing into a parking space at a condo to pick up a friend for food/movie night. As I'm straightening up I hear the guard tellimg me that I have to pull in. I jokingly asked, "Oh, you're not allowed to park properly here?" He kindly and calmly explained the rules to me, and mentioned that he was supposed to make me park at the church across the street because I had a pick up, but it's the slow season so we could get away with parking in a guest spot. I let him know I wasn't trying to cause trouble or be a pain, and then jokingly asked if I was allowed to have a manual transmission. He was cool about it and said if anyone complains he'd say it was a pizza delivery truck.
Most of the guards I've talked with are cool about it, and sympathetic. I'm just getting really annoyed that I can't park places because I have a truck. (Sometimes a covered bed is allowed.) What kind of crap is that? I wish I had the money to build a community where you could only have trucks, and possibly a secondary muscle car.

Re: You can't park here.
They would be busy in AZ with a "no truck" rule. That makes no sense at all

That's because motorcycles are extremely loud and annoying when you are trying to sleep at night. A small truck (ford ranger especially), that is smaller than a lot of SUV's and big cars, should be able to park anywhere. Unless you have a loud window shaking exhaust it shouldn't be a problem. I probably wouldn't have any problem parking tho because my truck is extremely clean and waxed. Still discrimination. Especially if you drive to fit your daily needs

Re: You can't park here.
My apartment complex will tow your vehicle if you back in
My full size dodge d250 long bed is to long for a to truck to get out of a spot.
So if they want to tow it I have to pull it out of the spot to they can get it behind their truck

Re: You can't park here.
I just find it odd that you pull up to a place as a visiting guest and the first thing you hear is, "You're not welcome here."
I was there again the other night and the guard (different guy) asked, "That thing isn't going to be parked here long, is it?" I may just have to stop hanging out with my new friend, especially after her somewhat jokingly comment of, "Maybe you'll have to get a different car." I doubt I'll hear that again after the look I gave.

Doesn't matter how pretty or clean your truck looks. You're not special. It's a truck and it's not allowed.

I'm just saying I can understand not wanting people parking big dented up work trucks with rust and faded paint and poorly built ladder brackets.
I'm glad you gave her a look. My girlfriend said something about getting a new car and I just looked at her thinking "all the work and effort I put in to this truck to make it look fresh off the production line and your going to tell me to get rid of it?
I might also look in to your state and county's laws about discriminative parking. Only if its becoming a serious problem though

Re: You can't park here.
Lmao. That's such bullshit.
Can't back into a spot? Can't have a truck in the place? Wtf.
So damn glad I live in the country. I don't understand how people can live in places like that. Or places with homeowners associations with bullshit rules like no working on your car in your driveway etc.
Like, fuck you guys. It's my car, it's my property, I'll do whatever the hell I want on it.
If I was in a place and they told me to leave simply because I drive a truck, I'd make sure I drove up and down every road in the area with the pedal to the metal. They can hear my little 4.0 screaming with its mbrp. See how they like that lol.

Just an FYI, in some states, a no trespassing sign isn't required. It's implied by law that you need permission to be on private property. MT is that way.
I've never heard of places saying you can't park a truck or back in before. Then again, I've never been to a fancy gated community either. I read about all this kind of BS and it makes me so glad I live out in the middle of nowhere. lol.

Re: You can't park here.
I've been to gated communities where you have to show your ID and they run it to make sure you don't have a criminal record or that you haven't been banned from entering. Frankly, that sort of crap makes me really uneasy. I don't care how much money you make, it is just weird.

Try to ban trucks here, it would never happen. Now in my condo property, they banned commercial trucks. That's it. Never heard the no backing in one, or no motorcycles. First I've ever heard of 'no trucks' though too.

Re: You can't park here.
I've been comtemplating selling both of my trucks and getting something else to replace them (if I can find something suitable), but I might just keep one because of these policies.
There are a few places around here that have a "no trucks" policy. Like I mentioned before, some have exceptions:
-no trucks parking from like 5:00pm to 8:00am or on weekends
-no open truck beds allowed (so a camper or tonneau makes you legal)

Not being able to attend a friend's birthday party is a serious enough plroblem for me. It's dictating who you can and cannot socialize with. And what if I was supposed to be the designated driver?

I don't think it actually has to be posted here.
