Default compound bow or crossbow???

Hey Guys,
I've been trying to decide between buying either compound bow or a crossbow for quite sometime now and I really can't decide. Both have their advantages and both have their disadvantages as well. If you were me, which one would you choose?

Thanks. I found a couple that I like, but unfortunately they're a bit too expensive for me right now. I'm going to check at my local hunting supply store and see what I can find.

Id go compound. I wasnt too sure about it when I bought it, but after hunting with it a few times I love it. Having a crossbow would be nice, but you dont get the same feeling as you do when you nail a hog from your stand with a bow

Yep and just buying the crossbow by itself isn't enough. You've got to maintain them alot more than you would a compound bow. I talked to the crossbow store and basically these things require more maintence than a firearm does.

That's what I'm thinking. I'm old school when it comes to hunting. I started hunting long before Realtree and Mossyoak even came out. The last time I went hunting was in 1996 when I was a senior in highschool. After quitting a local job for another one that paid more, I managed to go hunting for a solid month after that. This other company couldn't let me start work until I finished highschool at that time.

Well I wish to thank everyone's input. I've decided to go with a compound bow over the crossbow.

in PA, archery is archery now, no difference between compound or crossbow. It used to be that only disabled people with permits could use crossbows but now its opened up to anyone. Thats what made me get a crossbow

Agreed,

Good looking setup. I prefer shooting a compound over a crossbow but you have to love a good solid crossbow.

I prefer compound. It adds to the sport for me. I cant wait till my shoulder heals up so i can shoot it again. But I shoot both often because my dad owns BIGshot targets. I do a bunch of testing with both.

----------

Just read thought the whole thing. Which compound did you end up with?

VA is in the process of doing the same thing. Even though I'm disabled now, I'd still would rather hunt with a compound bow.

I haven't bought one just yet. I'm going to go look this weekend and see what's out there. I'm leaning towards a "mid priced" compound bow because I've had some really bad luck with the cheap ones.

You forgot that I went legal didn't you, L.O.L. I'm wanting this for hunting. I'm not going for large game like deer, bear or anything like that because I just not able to drag larger game out anymore.

That use to be my philosphy years ago, L.O.L. That's a really nice set up right there. I bet you have nearly $600 bucks in to that real easy. As far as moonshining goes, I'm legal. In fact I have to create an amendment to my permit when my kettle gets here because I'm required to register my still:

Here's the license:

I retracted everything for security purposes, even though this license is attached to a photo I.D. The top number doesn't matter at all. Now here's my still:

Now here's what came with it:

The condensor is built in:

Ghostranger suffers from the here after disease. You know: What did I come in here after? L.O.L. In fact I'm eat up with it myself.
