Default Radar detectors???

do radar detectors really work against policeman radaring you? how bout a $60 one? will it work?

Yes. Even the $60 ones will work fine. The expensive ones are nothing more than expensive hype. Don't waste your money on them.

Radar is radar. If it is on, the thing will beep and you slow down. Period, end of story.

Laser is instant on. There is no detecting it prior to it picking up your speed. The most expensive detector in the world will go off at the same time as the cheapest one. And in both cases, you've already been hit.

what do you mean so it really doesn't work? it goes off as the police is radaring it on your truck and so you have no time to slow down?

Laser is a laser, it works off of light pulses. (The speed of light) So when it hits your car and bounces back to the cop he has your speed. Yes that quick. When you Laser detector goes off, they have your speed.

The Radar work off the Doppler Effect. Red Shift and blue shift to tell if something is moving away from you or towards you. Radar takes a few seconds to work. So time to slow down.
