Default Something has been bothering me for a long time.

I would like to talk about driving. That is right driving. I know most of us on this site have a driver's license. As in the basic class D auto license. For our European friends I am sure it is different. What does that actually mean though? I would say nothing. You are probably wondering what the hell I am talking about. I am talking about the way people are supposed to drive. For example when you are waiting at a stop light and there is a vehicle in front of you. If you can't see that vehicle's rear tires it means you are too close. Point #2. When you are making a right or left turn. You ARE NOT supposed to cross the double yellow lines. Those lines are there for a reason. Point #3 turn signals. Guess what. I don't read minds or predict the future. If I could predict the future I would be playing the lottery right now. #4 Straight trucks, tractor-trailers, other commercial vehicles. Stay away please. Driving a tractor-trailer I can tell you can be very difficult at times. The main reason that is, is because of other drivers. Guess what. There are blind spots in these types of vehicles. So when you ride up the ass of the big rig guess what. The vehicle's driver cannot see you. I can't look through my rear view mirror because I don't have one. I can't see you from my back window because of that trailer there. More importantly I am sorry tractor-trailers don't move fast enough for four wheelers. There is these two things called weight and size. Which also means stay away because if you get into an accident especially at high speed with one. It will fuck your shit up.
So now that I have ranted. Please follow the rules of the road. I know people make mistakes. Try not to take it personally. However I would like to see people stop doing this shit on purpose. If you didn't know any of this I suggest picking up a driver's manual.

you forgot people who crawl up your ass when your stopped on a hill and youre driving a manual trans vehicle, women who apply makeup while driving (get up earlier!), its now illegal in pa to talk on your cell phone while driving, but everytime I see a state trooper or local police, theyre on their cell phone while driving

o man i could rant on and on about inconsiderate/ inexperienced drivers. also having driven truck i know what you mean about other drivers acting stupid around tractor trailers. blinkers- use em, cell phones- lose em, left turn lanes- use them too, look in your mirrors once and a while and DONT tailgate me! im usually going 10 miles over the speed limit anyways so youve got no reason to do so. you will get a hitch through the grill if you follow too close. lol

I don't even have a drivers license yet and I already hate other drivers. I was driving around today. Came up to a stop light and this woman pulled no farther than 3" away from my bumper. I saw her keep inching up and I was like "What the hell is she doing?" I threw it in park and hopped out and checked to make sure she wasn't going to hit me. People are just stupid in general when it comes to driving.

I am with you 110%. I notice everything wrong with peoples driving. It pisses me the hell off. For example, I just got home from driving across the city and some ******* lady didn't even shoulder check or signal and came very close to hitting my truck. Later on that drive I was crossing an intersection and someone did a right turn and double-laned it right infront of me, apparently they thought they had enough time to cut me off without getting in an accident (I slammed on the brakes and honked constantly for 20 seconds behind them, they got very scared). As for the police, it is a law now in Saskatchewan that you like cannot have your phone even out at all. Police now (as published in the paper) use big trucks (vans, semis, lifted trucks) and look into your vehicle and look for a phone, then call the squad cars. This is horse shit because I see police on their cell phones all the time, also they always pass me (im going 50, they go 70) its total bullshit. They need to make it mandatory for people to retake driving lessons, cause' it seems like 90% of people don't know how to drive anymore. I'm not saying I am always the perfect driver but I at least still know the basics of driving like a normal person.
/end rant

cops are the number one breakers of laws in my opinion, i see the run redlights, talk on their phones, turn with out signaling, cut people off, and just be *******s in general. im not saying i dont have some bad driving habbits (driving too damn fast) but they need to be taught a lesson or something

That's what pisses me off the most. Aren't they supposed to be setting the example?

funny this thread came up- this was on the news this morning here:
Quote:
The question was "Do you think traffic laws in Tampa Bay are routinely ignored?"

More than 4,000 of you voted, and the non-scientific poll results were:

Yes, because people think themselves above the law: 13 percent
Yes, because people are in too much of a hurry: 21 percent
Yes, because law enforcement is lax: 5 percent
Yes, because of all the above reasons: 42 percent
No, traffic laws are not routinely ignored: 15 percent
the drivers here are really, really bad. i'm no professional, but i stick to my lane and use my turn signals and go the speed limit, etc. People here will cut you off, then brake, or sometimes they try merging into your lane even though your right there and there is no one in front of you or behind you. I don't like driving around people.

ya, i just hold my ground if someone deliberately tries that shit. Usually around here its a nicer car, so they would end up losing because they dont want to hurt their precious car, while mine has a couple of dents all around it lol

Yes here in PA it's it's now illegal to drive and text/talk on your phone. So all you young people. PULL OVER! But don't slow down! Or you know what really gets me, is that you're sitting at a traffic light and it turns green. GET ON IT! DON"T KEEP THE PEOPLE BEHIND YOU WAITING. I've sat at left turn signals and knowing full well a dozen cars could have gotten through, but NO, only 3 cars get through b/c car #1 took 5 seconds to go.

It's supposedly illegal to drive in the left lane for a long distance, GET OVER! I will confess that's one time I'll come up close to some one.

But lately with PA passing a law about being to close to Tractor-trailers, I try to respect that distance. Shoot, I even let them in sometimes. I'm usually courteous to them but you'll find those jerks too.
I will however say that with the major arteries for commercial traffic that goes through PA I have noticed people in general are getting more and more impatient. Can't tell you how many times I've had to in some form or fashion do something nice for another motorist and the people behind me start honking or being jerks.

Which is why I have all possible warning lights flashing while I"m delivering newspapers. It's dark and I want people to make sure they can see me.

they did a study and determined that the average driver will look at the road only like 1.5 seconds and will look at their phone for texting for 4.5 seconds in a 6 second span. Kinda scary. I actually notice it now when I am driving or at a stop light i will notice that the person behind is staring at their steering wheel.

i used to be able to text with out looking on my env2 because i knew the button placement, but now with a touchscreen phone i have to keep my eyes on my phones to see if im hitting the correct buttons, i dont even text when im driving now. ive got a bluethooth enabled head unit tho so i dont have to hold my phone to answer it
