Default Need some input for a trailer build

I dont know why but I got this thing about building trailers

I picked up a boat with a trailer a few years ago. It is 20ft long and 4'8" wide.

I have shortened it up to 13' overall length and 10' deck length. The axle is adjustable and is currently at the 4' mark from the rear of the trailer.

I have a tandem kit I want to put on it, why? I dont know, just for shits and giggles I guess.

Question 1: If I keep it single, how far should I put the axle? Is there a formula for figguring it out?

Question 2: If I go tandem, I think the rear axle needs to go at the 3' mark and then the front axle will just be wherever it ends up.

Trailer is just for basic utility, hauling the lawn mower (rider) probably various building materials. At no point should the weight ever exceed, say, 5k lbs.

I am running 5.70x8 carlisle sure trail ap tires. I have a nice set of 4.

I'll try for pics to be posted tomaro.

I've got a homebuilt 14' flat bed. If I remember I'll get some measurements and pics for you tomorrow when I get off work.
