Default Military Thread

Hey guys! This is a thread for everyone! Military appreciation, stories, service, criticism (use discretion), and future service aspirations.

1998 Ranger XLT 4X4 3.0L V6 (Straight Pipes) Plans for lift, custom bumper, new suspension, engine swap, fog lights, bed bars, larger tires, new wheels, CAI, and detailing work.

I'm currently enlisted in the US National Guard using it to pay for my college so I can switch to active duty and fly a helo as a 2LT. I am an E-7 in the High School JROTC granting me the ability to go in as an E-3 which is what I did.

Both. I went through the DEP to be in the National Guard while I'm in ROTC in high school. So, I'm getting paid like a regular guard member (plus a bonus for DEP) and they're paying for my college. Current MOS is 11X (Infantry). Using the Guard to go to college and get into aviation or just become an Infantry Officer.

Why not apply for warrant officer school?
I'm real USAF. Not guard or reserve
2a2x1. AFSOC rescue avionics maintance on hh-60g s
Love my job. Hate a few bad eggs

Tough luck.
I went threw hell for my medical which is dumb since I score high on my pt test

People who are into military/ nat geo should check out inside combat rescue
Shows a different side of what's going/gone on in Afghanistan

I honestly don't know how to go about that. Plus, when I get out/retire, I'm going to need an education or you can't get anywhere in this world nowadays.

If its a better option, hell yeah I'll do it. But I just don't know much about it.

I tried for the Marines. Couldn't get close because of my physical injuries. I have ultimate respect for all those who served/serving.

Tough luck. :/ I barely made it in. Had a bit of weight issue. Lost 75 lb before joining. It's a good thing I made it. I had basically thrown my life away and don't have a future outside of the military.

Yeah, it sucked. Ever since I was 5, I wanted to be in the military. But I've had so many accidents in my life, it just wasn't practical lol.

What kind of accidents? How bad are the physical injuries?

I've ridden horses since I was young. I've had many buck me off, spook and I'd fall, rear up and bust my head. I had a horse rip my hip out of the socket. Car accidents. My latest one was last year, where I flipped my truck.

Dad was in the navy during Nam. I tried to enlist but 4 knee surgeries and a torn rotator cuff pretty much eliminated me.

05 xlt 4x4 auto, Aries grill guard, shield & deflectors, led tailgate light bar, tonneau, tbar crank, k&n air filter

I was in the US Army reserves for 6 years and some change ( stop loss), was honorably discharged in 2011. Did a year and a half deployment for OIF III between 2004 and 2005. Got caught by stop loss at the end of my 6 year obligation and had orders for Afghanistan but stop loss ended and I was allowed out. I miss it almost everyday but I'm also glad to be out. I made lifelong friends, had the best and the worst times of my life with them but my family here and the BS going on when I got out is what kept me from re-upping.
