I don't have one but I think temp and saltwater mixture are gonna be your biggest issues... also what you plan on putting in it is going to change what sizes you can have... I would assume the smaller it is the easier it is to take care of though.. haha

Size has very little to do with ease, setup is important.
I have a friend who has a 80 gallon that he only cleans 1 time a year. he has living plants, corral and fish the key is a balanced eco system

I don't have a salt water tank but really want one i just don't have any room. A lot of times pet stores will help you pick fish that co exist. I think 20 to 30 gallons is the perfect size for a tank they say that for every inch of fish you should have a gallon of water. I have done research and from what I've found out salt water tanks are fairly easy to take care of you can buy salt water kits that are already the perfect ph and salt and what not.

Bigger is better, the more water volume you have the more it takes to screw it up. Once you get over the newbie "mess with everything" period a tank is pretty easy to keep. Not cheap though.

We do freshwater Angles now.
Had 2 seperate Salt water tanks, one "turned" and we lost everything. The other had a Ennemy (Spelled wrong) that got caught up in the filter after it climbed the wall and half out of the tank.... what a mess. Lost everything in that tank due to the poison that it released when it died.
Saltwater = have a lot of money that you can afford to loose.
They are beautiful tanks when done right, but they have little tolorance for mistakes in chemical or water challanges.
chiclids are very cool fresh water choice, very aggressive and colorful. DO not place normal fish in a tank with them unless you want them to vanish overnight.

I have determined that most mechanical / electrical challanges are directly connected to the nut that connects the steering wheel to the drivers seat.

cichlids are very bright in color for fresh water. thay do tend to be very aggressive. out of the tanks i have had 55 gal fresh, 45 gal salt, 100 gal fresh and my last tank was built in the wall of my bed room was a 300 gal custom made ( in my house ) tank. the cichlids buy far are the easiest of all to get up and keep going the salt was a pain in the ass from the start! first power went out and all my fish died do to no circulation $900 dollars in fish, then i got it back up and got a sick fish and killed off the hole tank again their went $500 dollars in fish. and on the last try some one throws a penny in there at one of my parties and killed off the fish again lost about $200 cheep fish so i gave up on salt.
when you see African cichlids for the first time you will love the vibrant colors. the pea-****ing the mails do is awesome to watch them bring out the colors to mate. pluse at $5 a fish it is much easier to loose a tank full. if i had to do all over i would stay fresh water with a wet dry filter and some good power heads for circulation and a dissent bio wheel. for half as much for salt you will be set up and enjoying you new hobby! hope to have helped and if i can find pictures of my tanks ill post them up
