not really, my 90 is not to tough just clean it every 2 weeks.
check the water once a week.
if your new to the hole fish tank thing then get something between 20 and 35 Gallons. thats what i started off with.
chiclids are easy to care for.not all chiclids are aggressive most Africans are. is all i the was your raise them, my midas is the 2nd most aggressive chiclid and hes very calm.
Chiclids are not always cheap Titanium Flowershorns can run from $100 to $300

well guess you are wright when i had 4 tanks at once it was a lot of work ! and the most i have ever paid for a fish (cichlid) was $20 for a breeding pair of anomalochromis thomasi .there is tons of fish out there that are cheep and look way better than the $100 fish you speak of like characins ,cyprichromis leptosoma, neolamprologus (brichardi) or there is shell typs that are super cheep and dont need a lot of room like neolamprologus brevis, neo ocellatus then the sand cichlids that are just as pretty as the rest and cheep like xenotilapia, enantiopus, cytopharynx or even ophthalmotilapia so if you wish to throw money away and only have average fish go right ahead but for me i like the colors and having more fish than less $. for the titanium flowerhorns that you had spoke of first of all to me this looks like a fish with a brain tumor and not all that colorful but hey if you like plane thats your choice!

please for give any misspelled fish as it has been 30 years since i was in school for marine biology.

inv
that is just of the African cichlids in lakes of well knowledge should i go in to other lakes of less knowledge? and dont get me started on south and north American cichlids

True its harder to maintain a small tank because every change is a big one! The larger the tank, the easier to set up into a true eco system

Blue no disrespect man, lol i like more agressive Chiclids thats why i have the ones i have and my dwarf flowerhorn is very colorful, ive only been into fish tanks for about 6 years so im sure i dont kno as much as you. i like it when every fish in your tank has its own territory.

I had a 30 gal for a couple years it was easy to maintain once it got established. Letting the water cure and balance out at the begining was the hardest cuz you want to start getting fish and stuff right away. Biggest issue is how expensive they are to buy stuff for. But you can join forums and local clubs so u can get peices of different corals and mushrooms or whatever else you want.
