Re: how much does a truck cap weigh?
I've got a fiberglass Leonard top. I'd say it weighs maybe 100 pounds. I can get under it and lift it onto my shoulders and get it on and off of my truck by myself if I have to, and I'm not a body builder or anything. It's awkward to do by yourself, but it's doable.

Re: how much does a truck cap weigh?
yeah it's like the weight of a passenger - it won't affect the 2.5 too greatly...

though the cross wind driving on the highway makes a bigger impact lol

Exactly what he said. I have an MPulse cap, can remove it myself from underneath but it's awkward. About 100lbs...

Re: how much does a truck cap weigh?
fiberglass caps are alot heavier, i'd say mine weighs around 200 lbs. aluminum caps, on the other hand, are very lightweight, easy enough to pick up and move around by yourself.

There is absolutely no way a topper weighs 250-300 pounds. I'm not going to weigh mine to prove it, but the fact that I can hoist it up on my shoulders and get it on and off of my truck by myself tells me it's maybe 150 pounds tops.
My topper:

No way I can get 250+ pounds on my shoulders by myself.

Re: how much does a truck cap weigh?
Would the added weight in the rear from a camper be enough to make the bumps easier, suspension smoother on the rear? And I wonder about what the guy above said too.

Re: how much does a truck cap weigh?
I don't really notice any difference in accelleration, fuel economy, or ride quality with the cap on or off. You do have to be more careful of blind spots and backing up though.
