Default This has to be the Rarest Ranger I have ever seen...

I was poking around on craigslist, and I found this Ranger...I have never seen one quite like it as this one has the uber rare V4 engine.

thats not too bad (saying it's a v4) i've seen craigslist posts of rangers saying the truck was an FX2 (no such thing, just a sticker people put on) or some other "fake" ranger type.

i love looking at the auto locator (local mag for selling cars) and pointing out mistakes. like an F250 with a 5.7 V8, or a '69 camaro with a 350V8 4 spd. and at the end of the add it says no motor or trans

Hey, I think but I am not sure. I THINK Ford came out with a few electric Rangers. I am not sure though. It seems I read that somewhere a while ago.

^^^thats some pretty good ones.

Its really not that bad, it just gave me a nice chuckle at the end of a long day.

And I've also had some fun playing that game by telling my dad why a Ranger we were putting an exhaust system on had been wrecked, by the decals, seats, and the reverse ranger lean.

And yes, I am pretty sure there were some electric rangers.

1998–2002 (1,500 produced) They are always referred as a EV ranger

Notice the passenger side grille area. That is where you plugged it in

Only difference with the instrument cluster was the voltage meter in the top left

My only question about the Electric Ranger is about the gear selector. It says P,R,N,D,E. Does anyone know what the E stands for?

you could have one for the low low price of......................drum roll please.............................$25,000

i think the E is for the Regenerative Braking system- Slowing down or coasting downhill charges batteries

I would love to get my hands on an EV Ranger. 5 miles to work and back I would never have to use gas.

From Wikipedia
Quote:
ord attempted to make the driving and operating experience as similar as possible to that experienced in an ICE vehicle with an automatic transmission. A selector operates similar to that for an automatic transmission with the following positions:

* Park
* Reverse
* Neutral
* Drive
* Economy

The economy position will reduce the maximum speed available, will also reduce the throttle response, and will engage energy recovery, and so is useful for long downgrades and when approaching a stop or for start and stop traffic. Drive is normally used only for freeway use.

A conventional switch arrangement is used to provide key inserted detection at Off, Accessory, Run, and Start.

Other controls are identical to that of the ICE version.

The heating system uses a ceramic core resistance heater. Air conditioning is provided with an electric-motor driven compressor-condenser-evaporator system.

if it was a subaru engine it would be an H4, not a V4.
