Any job that pays the bills, while your going to school, is a good job. When you finish school you can start your career.

NADC was the place I wanted to go to as well. I was fresh out of high school but unwilling to move that far.
I ended up at our local tech college. It has done me well so far 8 years in the career and it's fun everyday

You do what you gotta do to survive. Especially right now. I'll admit I'm not the most content person in my work right now, but I'm surviving and we have our needs met. Maybe once my wife is finished with her schooling and lands a teaching job, I can figure out what I want to do.

Glad to hear everything is working out for you. Working close to home sounds great, my one way commute is 45 miles to work. Good luck man!

Congrats man! I get my Bachelor in Diesel Technology here at Montana State University - Northern in May. I went from making 9.50 as a lifeguard to 20.75 working for GE at the Railroad. It is a lot of fun, you won't regret it. Best of luck, I know the job isn't that good but like BillC said a job in college is just a job. You finish your degree you start your career! Keep us posted on how you are doing. And feel free anytime to get ahold of me for questions. I bet STL will help you too. Best advice I can give you is don't procrastinate. You have homework just get it done. Not doing it has screwed me more times than I care to think of. And pay attention to electrical. It's here to stay and the better you are at it the more money you can potentially make. Half of a locomotive is electrical. If I didn't know anything about it I'd be no where. Again GOOD LUCK!!
