Default The who do u miss the most thread

I doubt there is a thread on this subject but I was thinkin alot today and man I really miss my dad! He passed away December 7,2011 from a rare cancer that had advanced too fast so nobody could help him. He was a great guy and I really wish he was still here to laugh and teach me life lessons as I do need fatherly advice in these hard times I'm going through but here's my favorite pic. I'm in the costume we had some great times.

Sorry about your dad .. I really hate cancer, seems like the best people end up getting it

I miss my Grandpop. He was the man, always telling stories and singing and messing with the neighborhood kids. Kept my grandmom's hands full too with his antics, always eating all her candy and playing dumb about it later (they lived alone, who else could it be?), or the time he bought a sword cane at the auction and didn't tell her haha

I remember when I was little we would sit outside on the porch in Philly and watch the cars go by, trying to get the trucks to blow the air horns. Even now I'll think back to that, just hanging out eatin graham crackers and Yoo Hoo without a care in the world. Such a simpler time.

This is my brothers and I with him on his Birthday

Sorry about your grand pop. I lost both of mine and my grandmother and father all in about 5 years it's depressing but I know they are looking down on us and not in pain anymore. Yea the simple things we did! Me and my dad used to just grocery shop and stuff like that and to be honest we had some good times doing it. He couldn't watch me graduate high school but I am about to graduate trade school so I know he would b proud

And don't think of it as depressing think of it as a way to share your story!

This is a depressing topic. But eh it might be good. I wish I had pictures on here, but I don't yet.

I miss my Grandfather, Norman Dale Howard

He is an inspiration to me, and part of the reason I am half the man I am today. Cancer took him as well, at age 85, so it's not like he was shorted lol He was a driven man, lived through the Great Depression, a stint in the 11th Airborne in the Pacific theater in World War II, My father, My Aunt, 40 years with the county roads department, and finally me. He wasn't a big man, but he made up for it in hard work, ingenuity, stamina, a healthy dose of humbleness and respect for everything. He worked his ass off, and no one could say he didn't earn his keep.

I've done a lot of growing, just in the last 5 years alone, and he is the one I look back to for inspiration. That project that sucks, he'd just effin' do it. No bitching like I do, no complaints, nothing, he did it. Whatever it took. He built half of his home, for his family. He had little, and gave more then he ever could.

He is part of the greatest generation, and damned if he wasn't going to earn that title all by himself, let alone what others of his age did.

I still miss the fishing, the train watching, riding around on his John Deere, but I have his truck, and I start it every day, and I think of him, there is a picture of him in the truck, and I think of him often. I go to his grave every month, clean the head stone, and just shoot the shit with him, even though he isn't really there in person. The only thing I really wish I could have done, was sat down and had a beer with the man who died one month before my 21st birthday, and listened to some more stories of his youth, the army, or raising my father and what hell he really didn't cause. To learn some life lessons, some new skills, just something new. Everyone needs a person like my Grandfather, and we need to live like he did.

So this thread is depressing, it still makes me smile, these are some great stories, and some great people. let's keep this rolling

Hell yea man!!!! I had a rough day just thinkin about my dad and how my life would be if he was here. He died when I was 17 and a senior in high school and man I just wanted to have a wee with him or have him watch me graduate or have kids and cancer took that away. He was a hard worker and provided so much and I took it for granted and I really wish I could just tell him I love him and I hope to be half the man he was. That's his last pic about a month before he passed

There are so many things that you want to say now, but that we all take for granted when they are here. Dad and I wanted to get Grandpa up to Alaska fishing before he passed, but that didn't happen, I'd love to go fishing one more time, so many things, but that time has passed, and it sucks

I feel ya bro. It really does suck because there was so many things that we never got to do that I really wanted him to do with me but it's never gonna happen now. But I'm really glad he was able to tell me he loved me and I was able to tell him my goals and that I'd achieve them for him before he passed.

This is a very depressing topic. I also lost my dad December 7 2002. Hit me very hard, only cause i was not close to him. only really knew him for about 6 months of my life when i lived with him when i was 18, taught me quite a few valuable life lessons that i cherish to this day but he was also a raging alcoholic and unfortunately not who i miss the most, but his death did affect me the most cause our last conversation , 1.5 yrs prior, was a large blowout and i moved out of his house to never talk to him again.

the person i miss the most would be one of my first girlfriends who was one of my best friends thru high school and we ended up dating senior year, was with me thru my dads passing and then went on a family vacation about a year later to virginia and literally fell off the mountain on an atv.... not a single bone broken but the impact killed her oh god why did we bring this up.

Damn I feel you there pal. My dads actual last words weren't too great because he was on many pain meds and my lil sister was being obnoxious I told her to stop and she yelled at me and my dad said "why do u have to be such an *******?" After that he went in to a coma and a few days later he passed. I really wish I could go back. And man I'm so sorry about the lady that really is unfortunate. It's just a lol remembrance thread u know a lil something to tell some good stories or just whatever u like about your loved ones.

she was probably the first and only girl that i truly loved and was in love with. everyone since has just been chasing that feeling.

my dad taught me alot about loyalty(even though he wasnt loyal), also was the one that taught me K.I.S.S. (keep it simple stupid) I was working at kfc and was 19 or 20 and my buddy that i lived with came to tell me(before the age of cell phones) and brought a bottle of tequila for me. i left work, went home and it hit me, started balling and drinking got smashed as F@ck then back to work the next morning.... was fine until the following day when we went to finalize arrangements at the funeral home. they had him laying out in the viewing room for us to see and pay respects early or whatever. as soon as i saw him laying there, then it really hit me. i literally would not leave my house for 4-5 days besides the wake and funeral.

----------

my dads last words to me were "get the fuck out" and mine was " see ya"

Damn that's rough dude. I'm sure he regretted what he said and prolly deep down knew he really didn't want u gone and out of his life.
Our existence is really just so fragile I now have learned since the passing of my dad to try and keep in good terms with everybody I come in contact with. When my mom and I start arguing I let her win and drop it all because I know there is always the possibility of no tomorrow. One day we will find the phone to heaven
