Default 97 mountaineer battery womt charge!!!

Alright so my 97 mountaineer v8 5.0 isn't charging and I'm stumped!
First started when I was driving and the battery light flickered and then the gauge starting dropping so I shy everything off and kept driving and it went back to normal and then when you would come to a stop it would go down a little till you hit the gas.

I immediately figure alternator so I put another on it. Had it tested at the parts store first and tested good. Put it in and still no charge. The yellow wire is reading 8.6 ( the voltage the battery has in it) and the green one is ready a steady 11.6 and the big wire on the alternator going to the starter is reading 11.6

I checked all the fuses and all are good. I even changed out the battery light bulb in the cluster. I am stumped. I took the alternator back off and tested it again and still tests good

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks guys

First thought is the battery, but it sounds like it could be your belt tension. My Dad had a similar problem with his F250. Turned out his belt was worn and was slipping on the alternator pulley. It would sputter until you revved it up. Worth a shot, anyway.

Could the belt be worn?

Then you probably have a loose or broken wire somewhere. I had one in my Dish truck that took a bunch of trips into the dealer to find. Start at the alternator and start tracing wires.
