Default Built Ford Tough FTW

I was on my way to the valley today driving up the 405 and of course I hit traffic, not surprising. I get to the point where traffic is finally beginning to clear up and I see chippies, paramedics, tow trucks, etc. on the shoulder so I rubber neck to see the aftermath of the accident and I see an early to mid 90s lifted F-150 with a bent front bumper and no other damage (thinking it was a minor fender bender). Then I see a lifted Tundra and the back end and bed got completely destroyed. The rear bumper fell off, the tailgate and tail lights were crushed and the bed was crumpled to half of its original size. Lesson learned today, built ford tough FTW and Toyota Tundra is crap.

Couldn't take pics as I was in the number 1 lane (too far away) and didn't want chippies pulling me over for using my cell phone.

90's F-series are the best trucks ever, IMO. That's why I have this.

I dunno, would make sense to protect occupants from whiplash, but I'm no expert.

Neither am I, but I feel like I read somewhere that they don't put crumple zones in the bed for some reason. It made sense at the time, but I can't remember what the reasoning was. lol.

Reminds me of our work truck; its a 94 F-150 XL Sport and we literally beat the piss out of it. Cold start to highway speeds with no engine warm up time, towing trailers, pulled out two scissor lifts and a forklift when the painters tried driving them across rocks, we used it as a scaffold and spray painted stuff in the bed. It just gets abused and beat down and its still running strong with over 200k miles on it. I don't think its ever been maintained lol
Its one of the main reasons I bought a Ford truck, they last forever!

Don't want cargo to come through the back of the cab? The gas tank is right there? Ummm..an empty bed pretty much already IS a crumple zone lol

Just throwin ideas out there
They definitely don't have them tho, there was a pickup at the wrecking yard around the corner from me that was BENT IN HALF. I'll have to see if I can find the picture..

Just seemed like a bad idea to me, but those are all good reason too. lol.

A lot of people are all "I want my vehicle to take the impact." Fuck that. I want my vehicle to drive away while the other one is a crumpled heap.

You know I'm not sure what motor it has in it..never seen under the hood. Its a regular cab, manual, dual gas tanks and pretty much nothing in the cab works except the speedo and tach. Gas gauge is broken, manual windows jam, the radio is always on and you can neither turn it off or turn it down. Oh and its stuck on the country station too. Basically this but with the blue green stripe design on the side and a ladder rack. I was surpsied to find it has the same size wheels as my Ranger lol

Oh and as for picup truck crumple zones:

Yea but unless you get hit by a Mack truck your 150 isn't going to take any impact; you'll just drive over them
Also, is it even possible to do crumple zones with a ladder frame body style?

Mines a 350. And I doubt it. I have no crumple zones whatsoever, and I'm glad. I also have no airbags. My Dad smoked a deer with his 1990 F150 doing about 55mph, and it just cracked the plastic grill. No body damage whatsoever.

haha my mistake; I always loved the 90's F-series trucks and they're boxy body styles. I STILL would love to get an early 90's F-350 Dually Crew Cab. Overly large I know but I used to see them all the time on the freeway at night with the running boards and amber lights all over and they were sexy lol

and damn did the deer just explode?!
