The whole idea of it being waterless is to prevent leaks. The waterless coolant doesn't promote corrosion which is what causes most coolant system leaks and failures. The rest are typically hose failures due to poor preventive maintenance. Whose fault is that?

My question is: why?
Regular extended life coolant works excellent.

But it is still water based, and will eventually corrode your cooling system components unless it is replaced regularly. The waterless coolant will last the life of the vehicle.

Your engine will fail if you don't replace the oil regularly. Coolant is a maintenance item, just like engine oil. It does need to be replaced

Was I typing in a foreign f***ing language?!
The waterless coolant system does not have to changed regularly, unless you contaminate by adding water.
Evans Waterless Coolant
Regular coolant must be changed at regular intervals because the chemical additives in the water lose their anticorrosion properties over time, and will destroy your cooling system and engine from the inside, out. Evidence of this shows up as the brown sludge you drain out of your radiator. That is rust that used to be part of your motor.
The idea of the waterless system is that the coolant contains no water, so it doesn't corrode and doesn't boil. So the cooling system is not being weakened and clogged up by corrosion and high operating pressures.
Now, converting to the waterless stuff is supposed to cost about 3 or 4 times what a regular coolant change costs. So unless you plan on keeping the vehicle for at least 6 to 8 years, you might not feel that the extra cost is worth it.

Re: Waterless coolant
hmmmmm... what about moisture condensing inside the overflow??? that would quickly contaminate the overflow tank, right???

Wouldn't the moisture condensing in the overflow be from the water in conventional coolant? I don't think you'll have that problem with the waterless stuff.
I am actually considering to change to the waterless coolant after my next oil change (I also plan to switch to synthetic oil).

No it would be the temperature difference between the engine coolant and the outside air causing condensation

Well that is something to look into. Although if the overflow tank is sealed well and clean, I don't think the moisture would cause contamination. Although I maybe wrong.

you's in houston tx lol! home of the worst humidity problem on earth lol! if it were a problem at all, it would be down there lol!
anyway, the tank has to breath when the radiator purges into it & sucks fluid back in after it cools...

Re: Waterless coolant
I took a quick look at the waterless coolant website and I didn't see anything related to compatibility with head-gaskets. Not worth the risk IMHO. I'll just change the Ford Premium Gold coolant in my 2011 sometime before the 168,000k/6yrs that Ford specifies - most likely 4yrs/120,000km...
Here's a good read on the latest coolants: http://www.gates.com/downloads/downl...older=brochure
