Oh man, maybe I should stop skimping on gas.

We have in Belfair

"Belfair Grocery" 2.66
Safeway gas 2.69 (you get 0.03 off)
QFC Gas 2.69 (you get 0.03 off)
76 2.79
Shell 2.81

What gas station should I go too? I usually go to Belfair G.

From my experience working at a used car lot seeing cars come in with the throttle bodies all black and gummed up, running atleast mid grade is better then regular. I would clean the tb completely and always run mid grade in them and they never get gummed even after 20K miles. Even tho most cars are tuned for reg, some of them will run better and more efficient with mid grade or even premium. My G6 GT was tuned for reg (stated in the owners manual) but gets better mpg with premium with a noticable performance gain. I run mid in everything but my bike which calls for premium from big name stations mostly exxon.

I know, and I get about 17mpg on E85, while I get 24mpg on 93 octance.

E85 allows to advance the hell out of the timing, increase boost and lean things out.

i thought octane was standard among regular, plus, and premium. Isn't that what the ratings are: 87 octane=regular, 91 octane=plus, and 93 octane=premium. I thought all gas stations that sell 87 octane (regular) sell 87 octane, its the additives that are different between companies/stations. i may be wrong though, thats just my understanding through me chemistry class.

I think the only difference in Arco and the higher brands in the additives that the higher brands use to keep everything clean, thus running better. I use Arco from time to time if I'm somewhere where all the stations are very expencive, otherwise I have a local Chevron that is actually cheap.

As far as watering down gas, they actually use to do that with water, and after that they use to "water down" premium with a lesser grade. I don't think they do any of that anymore, maybe in small towns that don't get regulated.

Around here it 87. 89. And 92 most places. That pinging is because the fuel doesn't have enough octane for that vehicle. If you put reg in a car that is tuned for premium it will most likely ping or "spark knock."

If you have a gas station that is cutting there gas with Ethanol you can us that to your advantage and get more power out of you truck and save money. all you got to do is tune your truck... or your lawn mower to run it.

Maybe a stupid ? but how do you do you tune it? I hear people say that and make it sound so easy. Is it?

I think every gas station around me is running 10% ethanol and it maybe just me but I feel like ever since i started seeing those stickers on the pumps I'm burning it faster
